About this workshop

Know where your practice came from, and it changes where it can go.

Learning about our yoga practice’s Western cultural and spiritual heritage shows us how we bring our own understandings and misunderstandings, hopes and concerns, to our interpretation of tradition. Like the practice itself, this knowledge can reveal what we most desire.

This workshop explores the history of our modern practice and includes a discussion about the practice of yoga and its relation to spirituality and religion. You’ll learn about common misconceptions and the origins of several modern styles.
